The Sampler is a senior thesis film created by Emily during her final stretch at CCS (2017-2018). It is also considered to be Emily's first animated dive into the dark comedy/horror genre. The story is
about the revenge of a seemingly innocent butcher after getting harassed by a sampling-obsessed old man for the very last time. The movie is a love letter to grisly hand-drawn animation and
classic comic book styling, with the entire world being mostly black and white, halftones, with some shades of red speckled within the environments. The film is also inspired by Emily's
experience as a Seafood clerk, in which she often had to deal with one particular man that begged to sample the department's wares.
